Bowling Green, Kentucky (Feb. 20, 2023) – Digital Works, a program of the national nonprofit Connected Nation, today announced it has received a $35,000 grant from Truist Foundation to expand digital skills training and remote job placement program.
This one-of-a-kind program offers training in customer service, sales, basic technical skills, and career readiness, which includes interviewing, résumé/cover letter creation, networking, and mentoring. Digital Works also provides job placement support focused on remote, work-from-home employment. The course is 100% virtual and completed in two, three-day sessions. Plus, this unique opportunity — which is funded entirely by grants and donations — allows participants to complete the training at no cost to them.
“The Digital Works program is proud to provide its participants with the relevant digital skills training needed to seek out and secure virtual employment,” said Digital Works Operations Manager Tammy Spring. “We love helping our graduates feel at home online and realize that this opportunity would not be possible without the support of organizations like Truist Foundation.”
A program certificate is awarded upon completion, as well as an opportunity to sit for a nationally recognized customer service and sales specialist certification. Graduates benefit from access to the Digital Works vetted list of employers to further personalize their job search support.
“At Truist, we talk a lot about financial inclusion and building hope for the future,” said Calvin Barker, Regional President for Kentucky and Ohio. “This program exemplifies our purpose of inspiring and building better lives and communities. We are proud to be part of the solution.”
