Class of 2018: Christine Mahoney
Fort Knox, Ky (August 5, 2020) – Digital Works (DW), a program of Connected Nation, hit its 1,000 th job placement on July 27, 2020! In celebration, we will be sharing stories of past participants, facilitators, supporters, and funders/partners, along with the history of our program and how it has impacted so many lives.
In the summer of 2018, Christine Mahoney was having a hard time landing a remote work-from-home (WFH) job. She sought help from the Kentucky Career Center, where she was introduced to Digital Works. She attended classes at their newest facility that opened up in her hometown of Elizabethtown/Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Mahoney struggled with extreme anxiety, which made it hard to work in public. She had to find a way to provide for her family despite her anxiety, making a remote job position so valuable.
“From having extreme anxiety and having a hard time working in public, this has allowed me to provide for my family from the comfort of my own home,” said Mahoney. “I would recommend this program for sure. It’s hard for people who either move around a lot, have kids or other things in life like anxiety to work out in public.”

Before the class was even over, she already had an offer to work for an at-home company called Nexrep. She still works there today as a customer service representative — and loves it!
“Digital Works changes things for people who have many life challenges,” said Mahoney. “It was a wonderful class and I made some friends along the way. It was nice to be around others who know the same day-to-day struggles as I faced. What a wonderful gift Digital Works has given to many.”
