Thelma Mitchell and her daughter, Amanda, both heard about Digital Works during a job fair in April 2016. Eager for new job opportunities, Thelma and Amanda began down their new career paths within a few months after completing the Digital Works program. This mother and daughter duo are now providing for themselves and their family.
Amanda had been looking to work from home, since her grandparents’ health had been failing. She had been in the customer service and medical fields for years, but couldn’t find what she needed to be able to care for her grandparents and earn money at the same time.
“I found Digital Works, started classes, and within a few weeks I was taking calls and finally working from home!” Amanda attended the Digital Works location in Gallipolis, Ohio, where she was taught what she would need to do to get a stay-at-home job.
“The classes were very interesting, and with my computer skills, and learning to increase my typing speed, I am on my way to a successful business of my own,” Amanda said.
Along with Amanda, Thelma began working for LiveOps in early 2017, after starting with Digital Works in December 2016. Thelma recently got promoted to a more advanced role within LiveOps within 45 days of work and is making about $15 an hour.
Thelma gave us an update on her progress as a LiveOps agent. “What has happened for me since I started working with LiveOps has increased my potential for a better life.”
“First, I was promoted from my 90 day probationary period early. I was very proud of this accomplishment because it made me feel like I was doing something well,” Thelma said, after receiving a special invitation to be a LiveOps agent.
Thelma continues to succeed as an agent for LiveOps and is planning to keep using her Digital Works skills to enhance her career. “Digital Works has shown me that my opportunities as an independent agent are endless.”
Both are excited to be working in jobs that have opportunities for promotions and growth while making it possible to be closer to each other and the rest of their family. Already Amanda has quit her second job and is working solely from home with LiveOps.
“Thanks to Digital Works my mom and I have secured jobs in the workforce where we can devote our time to working at home,” Amanda said. “From here we can just keep growing our careers. It’s very exciting.”
